The Drop: A Maine Arts Podcast (2022)

The Drop is the latest storytelling project–and first podcast–from Waterfall Arts. Hosts Chris Battaglia and Amy Tingle collaborate with Belfast Community Radio to produce a Maine arts podcast. Our goal is to bring you compelling individuals, conversations, and stories, mapping the beauty in our community (near and everywhere).

In the spirit of collaboration and making this project as accessible as possible, we got together with local artist Isabelle Gelot to publish a companion zine with each episode.

I produced, hosted, and edited each episode, as well as designed the zine with Amy Tingle.

Necessary, Mississippi - John and LaNae Abnet (2021)

Meet some of the paddlers who hopped in the 30-foot canoes and joined the Rivergator Celebratory Expedition from St. Louis to the Gulf of Mexico in 2017. Led by Quapaw Canoe Company and supported in part by the Lower Mississippi River Foundation (LMRF), this trip was documented by Chris Battaglia, and each interview is being shared for the purposes of creating more access to–and stories about–America's longest free-flowing river: the Lower Mississippi River.

In the pilot episode, meet John and LaNae Abnet, a husband-wife paddling duo that paddled for four months together in 2015, from the source of the Wabash River in Ohio, through Indiana, down the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, to the Gulf of Mexico, on an expedition they called "Separate Boats." It was recorded on March 30, 2017 on a log on the right bank (descending) looking to Cairo, Illinois, from the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers.

Sierra Club Podcast The Overstory - The Mighty Mississippi (2019)

Sierra Club podcast, The Overstory, brings to life writer Boyce Upholt’s Sierra Magazine feature on paddling on the Rivergator expedition in Episode 4, exploring “adventure—and a new sense of self—during a harrowing paddling trip on the Mississippi River.”

Along with Upholt, Isaac Kestenbaum and Josie Holtzman (together, Future Projects), I helped produce the feature by crafting the story with Upholt, as well as providing all natural audio recorded on-location from the expedition. Listen below:
